LED Lighting Controllers & Studio Equipment

Professional LED lighting & spectral control

Professional LED lighting for film, broadcast and studio — variable-white and full-colour soft sources (1600K–20000K), flicker-free to 10,000 fps, with closed-loop colour control and native wireless DMX.

We have developed some of the core technologies in equipment manufactured by some of the most well-known players in the industry. In-house experience in power supply design, precision analogue measurement and control gives you the most innovative product. Contact us to see how we can help you with your new design.

Film and TV Studio Lighting

Our expertise in high-efficiency power supply design combined with experience in control systems and lighting has created some of the most innovative designs in studio lighting.

LEDs are the most efficient light sources, however studio lights combine up to 8 different colours of LEDs which must produce consistent light output day to day regardless of environmental variations. Accurate current delivery of several amps, with a precision of much less than a milliamp, with no ripple, is required. Power supplies typically use a constant-voltage supply which provides enough forward voltage for all channels, with independent constant-current sections for each channel to remove ripple. However, at high powers, these designs dissipate a lot of heat, which compromises the accuracy of the current control.

Our efficient multi-channel constant-voltage supplies do not need constant current sections to remain stable, and our advanced control-loop tuning allows rapid response with no overshoot, allowing colour changes and high-speed special effects like lightning or strobe lights to be simulated by the ambient lighting system.

Our lighting systems connect to all standard industry control protocols such as DMX and ArtNet.

Source Colour Matching

Matching LED lighting to achieve the same results as existing “gold standard” tungsten lighting, or daylight, is a challenge. LEDs can have quite poor colour reproduction index (CRI). However, with a multi-channel LED lamp, and knowing the type of camera used, it is possible to tune an LED light source to give exactly the same result as any other light source, for a particular camera.

Using an industry-standard test card photographed under any existing light source, including those using gels or filters, our LED controllers can create a light output which in brightness and spectral content can produce an identical result in the selected camera model.

LED Tape and Matrix Drivers

SK9822 is the most popular daisy-chained RGB LED, available in tape and matrix tile format. Our range of drivers can drive tapes or matrices at up to their rated frequency of 30 MHz, allowing a large number of LEDs to be driven at very high frame rate.

One, two, and five-channel versions of our driver contain large flash memory for storage of video and patterns, and a high-speed USB connection allows live video to be streamed to the tape, with large memory buffers to prevent dropped frames.

Our drivers have been used in industrial control and inspection systems, casino products such as table displays and gaming tables, and are available to buy for other applications.

Performer Tracking

Much of the cost of running an event is the hiring of professional camera and lighting operators. We developed a tracking system which triangulates the positions of performers on stage using transmissions from their radio microphones or personal Bluetooth/WiFi devices, allowing cameras and lighting to automatically pan to their location.

Core Capabilities

Professional LED lighting for film, broadcast and studio — variable-white and full-colour soft sources, flicker-free, with production-ready control.

How it works

Light engine & spectral tuning

We engineer professional LED light engines with broad, even spectra and precise colour — variable-white from 1600K to 20000K with green/magenta control and gel-emulation modes, as in our cinematic and variable-white soft panel systems.

Control & connectivity

We add production-grade control: detachable control electronics, native wireless DMX and flicker-free output verified to 10,000 fps for high-speed cameras, plus the closed-loop colour stability used in our overhead LED spacelight.

Colour accuracy & workflow

We build the tools crews actually use on set — like the Bluetooth Digital LED Swatchbook for accurate colour preview and communication — so fixtures match each other and match the look the designer intended.
